Truly, these games can make a boring summer afternoon fun for people all ages taking part in them. Here are some exciting games that can take place in a swimming pool or in the areas around it.
Hunting for hidden treasure
To play this sort of a pool a game, various types of items are sunk into the pool at various places and the participants are required to hunt for them. At the start of the game, the players are required to close their eyes while various objects are scattered around the pool. The referee counts up to a certain figure, then the participants are required to open their eyes and start diving for the sunken treasure. A participant who accumulates the most is declared the winner.
This is probably one of the most popular pool games there is. It can be played by as many as ten players or as few as two players. To begin the game, one player is blindfolded or made to close his or her eyes. He or she then dives into the water and comes up shouting “Marco”. The other players scattered around the pool replies by shouting the word “Polo”. The blindfolded player searches around until he or she gets and tags one of the other participants. The tagged participant then becomes the new Marco and the cycle goes on until the participants have had enough of it.
Beach ball race
This game requires the participants to push a floating beach ball with their nose until it reaches the other end of the pool. The participant whose ball reaches the end of the pool first wins the game. The game can be played as a sort of a relay pool race. When a participant successfully reaches the other end of the pool, he or she is required to turn back and continue pushing the ball with his or her nose until it reaches his or her starting point. As the participants are divided into groups, the next team member takes over and continues with the game. Just like in a normal relay race, the team members who reach the final end first are declared the winners.
Pick-up ice cubes
To start with, add some food dye to water and then freeze into a number of different colored cubes. To start the game, throw the colored ice cubes into the water. As frozen water cubes float over the unfrozen water, have the players pick up as many ice cubes with their toes as possible (allow kids to use their hands), then throw them out of the pool. A player who eliminates the most ice cubes is declared the winner. This can be a fun game in the right company.
Apart from the mentioned games, you can also play the obvious ones such as water football, water volleyball, water basketball and the likes. All in all, there are so many water game options to opt for. However, always remember for ultimate pool fun, sportsmanship comes first!
